PILATE: HE WASHED HIS HANDS OF IT ALL
MATTHEW 27

-Pilate was a Spaniard, Governor of Palestine beginning around 26 AD, a redneck racist, he did not care about
people, he was self-centered..his motto: "What Is in it for me?"
-He had made lots of mistakes:

The new governors arrived in a parade with banners. On top of the pole carrying the banners was an image of Caesar. Because of the intense religious fervor against idolatry, past governors had taken the images of the emperor off of the poles. A riot ensued when PIlate entered with the images in place.
Pilate decided to build a new water system in Jerusalem. He took funds from Ihe Temple stores. Another bloody riot Insued.
Jewish leaders privately went to Rome to complain to Caesar. Pilate's job was on the line.
